Emotionally Focused Therapy
for Individuals in Ontario, Alberta, and BC
Learn to Navigate Emotions with Clarity, Self-Compassion, and Greater Ease
Do you find yourself overwhelmed by emotions—or unsure of what you’re even feeling? Maybe you tend to push your feelings aside to get through the day, or you become easily swept up in anxiety, guilt, or self-criticism.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) can help you make sense of your emotions, uncover what they’re trying to tell you, and build a new relationship with them—one rooted in compassion and clarity, rather than fear or avoidance.
I offer virtual Emotionally Focused Therapy to residents of Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
What Is Emotionally Focused Therapy?
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that supports individuals in understanding and transforming their emotional experiences. While it's often known for its use in couples therapy, EFT is also a powerful method for individuals who want to make sense of their emotional patterns and responses.
Rooted in attachment theory, EFT helps you explore how early relationships and life experiences have shaped the way you respond emotionally—often without even realizing it. Through this lens, emotions are not problems to fix, but signals that guide us toward our needs, fears, and hopes.
In EFT, we slow things down so you can:
-
Recognize and name your emotional states
-
Understand the deeper needs or fears underneath those emotions
-
Soften patterns like self-blame, emotional numbing, or people-pleasing
-
Practice new ways of relating to your feelings—with compassion, not shame
Who is EFT for?
Emotionally Focused Therapy isn’t just for exploring relationships with others—it’s also a powerful way to better understand your relationship with yourself.
This approach is especially supportive for individuals who:
-
Feel emotionally stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed
-
Struggle with anxiety, depression, or perfectionism
-
Tend to suppress emotions or feel numb inside
-
Experience strong guilt or shame when setting boundaries
-
Long for more inner stability and self-understanding
-
Want to break free from old emotional patterns and connect more fully with themselves
Why I Use EFT in My Practice
As a psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker in Ontario, Alberta, and BC, I’ve found EFT to be one of the most transformative and compassionate approaches to therapy. It allows us to gently access the parts of ourselves that have long been ignored, feared, or misunderstood.
In our work together, we’ll explore your emotional world with curiosity and care. Our sessions are a space to slow down, make sense of what you feel, and develop a new sense of emotional clarity.
I often integrate EFT with other person-centred, psychodynamic, and CBT approaches to meet your specific needs
